Hello all! Gosh it's been a while since I've posted a journal!
I've been around, lurking in dark corners and enjoying your work... so much wonderful art, you are all soooo talented! Life has been a bit busy for me, had a lot of stuff to do with/for my kids plus all sorts of other things that have been popping up. October snuck up on me and flew right past!
I have been poring through my images trying to choose my best ones for a portfolio... trying to make it perfect. An acquaintance of my husband has connections to a Professor of Photography who is on the national board of directors for the Society for Photographic Education and arranges gallery showings. I'm not expecting a lot (I know I have a lot to learn still), but I'm taking the opportunity to have her critique my work so that I may learn and improve. It's very exciting and scary at the same time. Right now I'm in the process of having trusted friends proof the portfolio for any spelling/grammatical errors and in the next couple of days I'll be doing a headshot. When it's completed, I'll share with you as well.
It may seem, due to the lack of new work from me, that I haven't had the chance to get out and do photography of late. That is partly true, but I'm also beginning to concentrate a little bit more on portraiture and because my subjects are very young, I don't feel comfortable uploading those images here. I will share portraits of adults as soon as I find willing subjects.
I've been asked to be the photographer for my cousin's wedding next year... at first I was hesitant to say yes; obviously my forte or preference has been nature photography. But she assured me I'm quite the capable photographer, and because it's a second marriage she wanted to keep everything small and informal, including the photography. So I'm approaching this with a bit of optimism; I have nearly one full year to hone my skills in "people pictures", it gives me an opportunity to learn something new, and I get to step out of my own personal "box".
Now, if only Santa

would bring me a Canon dSLR

with a variety of lenses (maybe throw in a tilt-shift and lensbaby too

)! A girl can hope and wish, right?
I hope you all have a great day!

Talk to y'all later!
...
Thanks, as always, to everyone that has viewed or

ed my work... I hope you enjoyed your visit to my page and that browsing my gallery has been worthwhile.

Until the next time,

Did you know? The word "photography" comes from the French photographie which is based on the Greek φώς (phos) "light" + γραφίς (graphis) "stylus", "paintbrush" or γραφή (graphe) "representation by means of lines" or "drawing", together meaning "drawing with light." Traditionally, the product of photography has been called a photograph, commonly shortened to photo.
